Google Tez is the latest UPI based payments app in town and after several weeks of rumours and leaks, the app is finally launched officially for Android and iOS today by Google.

While there a lot of payments app based exclusively in India like PhonePe, Jio Money, PayTm and BHIM, Google has decided to join the competiton with a few unique and interesting features with its Google Tez app.

Google has partenered with a few popular banks in India including, State Bank of India, ICICI and HDFC for the Tez app, which apparently means Fast in India, which according to Google is the main selling point of Google Tez.

Other big companies like Facebook and Amazon are also working towards bringing their very own payments app and Facebook is already rumoured to be testing an UPI based transfer system in Whatsapp.

How To Use Google Tez App

The Google Tez App currently supports many local languages in India including, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

Here is how to use it on your device.

Step 1:

After installing the app, select your preferred language and then enter your primary mobile number linked with your bank account to proceed.

Step 2:

The app will now automatically send you a OTP and register it.

Step 3:

You can now either use your existing screen lock method to protect the app or use a new Google pin instead.

Step 4:

Once the setup is complete, tap on add bank account at the top left corner of the screen and select your bank from the list of popular banks in India.

Step 5:

The app will now attempt to send an SMS from your registered mobile number to your bank to ensure that the account belongs you to and whether it is genuine or not.

Step 6:

Once the verification is complete, you have to now enter your UPI pin to proceed.

You can either create a new one or use an existing PIN.

Step 7:

Once you have entered the UPI PIN, the app will now add your bank account to the Google Tez.

Step 8:

You can now use multiple payment methods to send or receive money using the Google Tez app.

There is the QR code option, tap to pay using audio to another user with the Google Tez app or simply use the traditional method of sending money using the account number.

That’s it you have successfully used the all new Google Tez app based on UPI to send and receive money.
