OnePlus 5 is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones of 2017. It might not have a unique design or a QHD bezel less display but it did not fail to tick the most essential boxes that is required in a smartphone. It packs a 1080p AMOLED display which is considered to be one of the best 1080p panels in any smartphones. Snapdragon 835 along with 6GB/8GB of RAM complemented with a dual camera setup makes OnePlus 5 a heavy contender in the flagship division of the year and it does outperform most of the top players in the genre of performance easily for less than half the price.

Android 8.0 Oreo On OnePlus 5

Currently OnePlus 5 is running Oxygen OS 4.5.10, the latest build of Oxygen OS based on Android Nougat 7.1.1. But soon, the OnePlus 5 might get Android Oreo update as it was spotted at Geekbench running Android 8.0 Oreo, which confirms that the first beta builds may hit the OnePlus 5 very soon.

With OnePlus’s rival company Samsung ready to release the the Oreo update for many of it’s Galaxy series phone, its only about time for OnePlus to hop in and get on the race to release its near stock custom ROM Oxygen OS based on Android 8.0 Oreo soon.

Currently the Oneplus 3 and 3T have already received the Beta version of the Android Oreo 8.0 for the people who signed for the beta program. But OnePlus 5 has not received the any public beta release as of now. Probably they have decided to test the Oreo build of the Oxygen OS in the house, rather than rolling it out to the public.

Either way, we can expect the OnePlus to roll out the official, hopefully a stable build of the Oxygen OS with Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of the year as there is still 3 months left for the year to come to an end.
