Whatsapp introduced the beta update feature a while ago, where a user can sign up for the early release version and test the latest features before anyone else.
Beta updates usually get new features weeks before the stable update so that it could be tested whether it functions properly and how well the users benefit from it.

In the recent beta update, 2.17.340, Whatsapp has introduced a new feature where you could view how many messages, images, videos, audio files and GIFs you have sent to your contacts individually.
Previously this option showed only the overall data and storage usage of your account, but this beta update brings in a granular storage view.
You can access it by going to Settings->Data and storage usage -> Storage usage. Under this new menu, you can find the list of all your contacts ordered from the most storage usage to the least.
If you tap and open any individual contact from the list, you can find out how many messages you have sent and received and the amount of data transferred with that particular contact.
What’s more interesting is that, you can also manage these individual files right from the new storage usage manager. Just click on the Manage messages option at the bottom and you can now select the files or messages and delete them in a single click.
This feature is expected to roll out to the stable version in the coming weeks and it might reach your phone sooner than you expect as it seems pretty stable and extremely useful.
